This month’s spotlight is on ELEANOR ADAMS, who is a supervisor in our cleaning division, and oversees the cleaning team at Grand Parade Investments.
- Tell us something about yourself in about 3 – 5 lines.
I see myself as a positive person. I try to stay clear of negative people. I am a hardworking person, I like new challenges, and want to make a difference in my workplace. I like to encourage people especially when they are down. I also love animals; any stray animal I come across, I want to take home. I have come to own a cat and dog in this way.
- What are you passionate about? What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Well I think reality is that I have to wake in the morning for my kids and myself ☺. Being a single mom, I have to provide for us. But what really gets me going is a new day, with all its new beginnings, new possibilities, as well as new opportunities for positive things to happen.
- If you could change one thing that would make the world a better place, what would it be?
I would definitely put an end to poverty; I would provide for the poor and take care of their needs.
- What is your role at AfriServ?
I am the supervisor who oversees the cleaning team at the GPI building on the Foreshore. My duties include ensuring that the team carries out their duties to our required AfriServ standards. I do this by means of a monitoring programme, which was specifically developed by our organisation. My role is critical in that I manage our staff in order that they may deliver a service which is in accordance with our clients’ needs and expectations.
- What does working at AfriServ mean to you?
Working at AfriServ means more than just a place I come to earn a living. When I joined the company, I was in a very bad space, having just lost my mom, I was very down. AfriServ offered me the opportunity and promotion to become a supervisor, and it uplifted my spirit and has helped me to discover my true potential. I have become much more confident and am looking forward to reaching bigger heights in the organisation.
